Month 7: Homes
This month, your preschooler will embark on an exciting journey to discover what makes a home! Through engaging stories, creative crafts, hands-on math and science activities, and music and movement, children will explore different types of homes, how they are built, and who lives in them—from people to animals! Each week introduces new themes: Week 1 focuses on what homes are and encourages your child to draw and describe their own home after reading The Little House. Week 2 dives into how homes are built with a special building craft, shape sorting, and a fun “B-I-N-G-O” sing-along. Week 3 expands understanding to other types of homes (for animals and people alike) using A House is a House for Me, kite crafts, and more. Week 4 compares city vs. country living, introduces the letter E with elephant-themed activities, and teaches early math concepts like halves and quarters. Supplemental activities include an optional eye chart activity, visit to a home build site, and a sensory-rich snack & story time with If Animals Built Your House. By the end of the unit, your child will better understand the world around them—starting right where their heart is: home.
