In Month 4, Week 1 of our preschool curriculum, children will delve into the world of Trees through engaging activities. The week begins with an exploration of tree parts using a Tree Magazine and the book "A Tree is Nice," where children use a drinking straw to mimic a tree’s roots drawing up water. The focus on language arts involves identifying sight words, while math introduces concepts of "before," "after," and "between" using shapes and worksheets. Art and physical activities include tracing objects, coloring tree-themed pages, and practicing ball throwing and hiking a football. Review sessions with the calendar, number flashcards, and the “Months of the Year” song reinforce learning, while a tasty snack of Jell-O Jigglers caps off the week.

In Week 2, the theme continues with a deeper dive into how trees grow. Children will read "The Giving Tree," create tree bark rubbings, and engage in various activities such as water play and making fruit kabobs. Language arts focuses on constructing sentences, while music lessons feature a classical conductor activity with “Peter and the Wolf.” Math lessons involve measuring with a ruler, and physical activities include playing hopscotch. Review sessions with the calendar, and a color kit help consolidate knowledge. The week concludes with a snack of fruit kabobs and a focus on the growing and changing nature of trees through hands-on activities and creative projects.
